Specs & Details

  • Key features
  • Technical Information

UniRail can be fitted to a wide range of structures and can support multiple workers for both fall arrest and abseil technique applications. The system offers workers continuous hands-free movement and navigates corners and building contours, thereby providing maximum design and integration flexibility.

HOW IT IS USED

Free-flowing attachment carriage and bracket free design offer hands-free functionality while navigating corners and building contours, supporting multiple workers for both fall arrest and abseil applications. 3M UniRail is designed to be attached to structures such as concrete or steel. 3M UniRail is suitable for mounting at ground level, on a wall, or overhead.

HOW IT WORKS

The system has been used extensively for suspended access work by rope access technicians, as it meets the requirements of both abseil and fall protection standards. The system includes a free-flowing carriage that is capable of navigating corners and contours in a building or structure to provide complete flexibility for the end-user.

PERFORMANCE

Conforms to AS/NZS 1891.2:2001 - Industrial fall-arrest systems and devices - Horizontal lifeline and rail systems, AS/NZS 1891.4:2009 - Industrial fall-arrest systems and devices - Selection, user and maintenance, AS/NZS 4488.2:1997 Industrial Rope Acess Systems - selection use and maintenance.

INSTALLATION

Installation must be carried out by an Accredited 3M Fall Protection Certified Technician and according to the manufacturer's installation instructions. The rail can be mounted at floor level, on the wall, or overhead.

MAINTENANCE

As per AS/NZS 1891.4 UniRail must be certified every 12 months by an Accredited 3M Fall Protection Certified Technician. All of the exposed materials in the system have been specified as naturally corrosion-resistant, or have been coated with sacrificial coatings to prevent oxidization of the base material. It is important to consider that in some environments the system may need to be cleaned to gain the best possible life expectancy from the materials.

WARRANTY

3M warrants the DBI-SALA Horizontal Rail Safety System ("the system") and its component parts against factory defects in workmanship and materials for 10 years from its date of original purchase from 3M. Conditions that must be fulfilled include the system must be installed in accordance with 3M's installation instructions. The system is inspected in accordance with 3M's inspection instructions and annually recertified by a certified installer. Fixings must be tested at installation and then at least once a year and recorded in accordance with 3M's installation instructions.  The system must be owned by the person making the warranty claim. The system has been properly used and maintained in accordance with its user instruction manual.
